Shelby grew up with horses and dogs, and spent her childhood competing successfully in various disciplines with her attention turning to dressage as a teenager. Her experience competing horses and ponies across numerous disciplines has given her a thorough understanding of the demands placed upon these animals. Which in turn highlighted the importance of correct management and training to aid their performance. Shelby’s passion for working with animals, coupled with a keen scientific interest, led her to seek a career as a veterinary physiotherapist, wanting to aid animal well-being and performance.

At present, Shelby has spent 5 years so far in higher education, graduating from Hartpury College with two 2:1 class Equine Degrees in 2015. Her degrees  focused on equine anatomy, physiology, nutrition, breeding and therapy combined with gaining practical experience in a variety of equine and canine sectors. Since, she has completed post graduate training and holds a Level 7 Advanced Certificate in Veterinary Physiotherapy, accredited by Middlesex University. She hopes to complete her MSc in the near future when time allows! In addition, Shelby has also completed the Level 7 Certificate in Clinical Education, accredited by Middlesex University. This enables Shelby to provide placements and teaching services for the MSc Veterinary Physiotherapy course ran by theUniversity of Nottingham.

Outside of work, Shelby regularly competes at British Dressage (BD) competitions, having successfully qualified for the BD Winter Nationals in 2015, 2017 and 2019. She also participates in RC eventing when time allows, and enjoys producing young ponies. Shelby has two rescue Whippets, that adore accompanying her to various competitions across the country.
