SD Veterinary Physiotherapy is ran by Shelby Dowding MSc BSc (Hons) AdvCertVPhys CertClinEd MNAVP, providing an equine and canine physiotherapy and rehabilitation service throughout Gloucestershire, Somerset, Avon, Bath, Wiltshire and South Wales. Shelby is fully insured and a registered member of the National Association of Veterinary Physiotherapists (NAVP). Under the Veterinary Surgeons Act (1966), Shelby can only treat an animal with delegation from their Veterinary Surgeon, which must be obtained prior to treatment. A vet referral form is available to download under the 'Appointments' tab.
Shelby qualified as a Veterinary Physiotherapist in 2015 having gained her post-graduate Advanced Certificate in Veterinary Physiotherapy accredited by Middlesex University. In addition, Shelby has recently finished off her post-graduate studies with a MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy from the University of Nottingham - School of Veterinary Medicine & Science. Prior to that, she gained a BSc (Hons) Equine degree from the University of the West of England. Shelby has also completed the Level 7 Certificate in Clinical Education, accredited by Middlesex University. This enables Shelby to provide placements and teaching services for the PgDip/MScVeterinary Physiotherapy course ran by the University of Nottingham - School of Veterinary Medicine & Science. Outside of work, Shelby regularly competes at British Dressage competitions, having successfully qualified for the BD Winter Nationals in 2015, 2017 and 2019. She also participates in RC and British Eventing when time allows, and enjoys producing young ponies. Shelby has two rescue Whippets, that adore accompanying her to various competitions across the country.
